GMC Savana 3500 Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the vacuum brake booster on GMC Savana 3500?
A: The Brake Master Cylinder removal process starts first. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the check valve then free the check valve from the power Brake Booster. Pull off the Pushrod retainer, Pushrod, and stoplamp switch at the end of the Brake Pedal. Take out the power Brake Booster with the cowl gasket from the front engine cowl after you detach the retaining nuts from the Brake Pedal bracket. New gaskets need to be put between power Brake Booster and front engine cowl before installing the power Brake Booster. Install retaining nuts to the Brake Pedal bracket from the power Brake Booster and torque them to 27 ft. Lbs. At 36 nm (Nm) settings. Begin by tightening the right lower retaining nut before the left upper one. Complete the pattern with the left lower retaining nut and the right upper one. Check again the torque setting once all nuts are fully tightened. After this place the stoplamp switch in position along with its supporting parts onto the Brake Pedal. Complete assembly by adding the Pushrod, its retainer and lastly the check valve to the power Brake Booster. Thread the vacuum hose into the check valve before putting back the Brake Master Cylinder to its connection with the power Brake Booster. End the brake bleeding process by using manual or pressure bleeding according to the preferred method.
