The first step to work on the heat shield requires vehicle elevation with suitable safety stands for support. Though exhaust system removal is optional at this point, first remove all heat shield retaining bolts to take out the heat shield. Follow these installation steps by putting the heat shield onto the vehicle then apply heat shield bolts before tightening the retainer bolt to 12 nm (106 inch lbs.). Populate the exhaust system before you return the vehicle to floor level through the removal of safety stands. A 1/4 inch (6 mm) drill bit must be used to remove necessary rivets from exhaust tailpipe and
Muffler heat shields before their removal. Mount the front
Exhaust Pipe heat shield onto position and apply rivets using rivet gun (J 34940). The installation of rivets should be performed with rivet gun (J 34940) for each step during the process of Muffler and exhaust tailpipe heat shields. The vehicle needs a new exhaust system installation before lowering it back onto the ground after taking out safety stands.
