GMC Sierra 1500 TPMS Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the TPMS Sensor (Snap In Style) on GMC Sierra 1500?
A: A vehicle lift on a suitable support is needed first to replace the Tire Pressure Indicator Sensor (Snap In Style). Remove both tire/wheel assembly and the tire from its rim during this step. The installation needs a fresh Schrader(R) tire pressure monitor TPM together with a new TORX screw. The tire pressure sensor requires a new TORX screw to remove it from the tire pressure valve stem by pulling it straight off. Tire changing equipment needs proper handling to protect aluminum wheel clear coatings from getting scratched or damaged because it leads to wheel corrosion and peeling issues. Pull the tire pressure valve stem out from inside the rim structure. During installation position the valve flat against the snap's flats before understanding that TPM valves and TORX screws function as single-use components. Fit the tire pressure sensor onto the valve stem before putting in the new TORX screw while tightening it to 1.3 Nm (11.5 lb in). Apply only tire mounting products which have been approved for use yet never use silicon or corrosive compounds with base components. Use tire soap to treat the valve stem rubber component before inserting the stem through its mounting tool at a 90-degree angle toward the rim opening. All Snap Fit TPM sensors leave shipping mode off but will transition to programable mode after tire inflation. After fixing the tire to the rim, place the tire/wheel combination on the vehicle before lowering it to the ground then learn the pressure sensors.
