    Q:
How to replace the TPMS Sensor on Chevrolet Silverado 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin by elevating the vehicle on an appropriate support before removing the tire/wheel assembly for replacement. Begin by removing the tire from its wheel position and immediately position the sensor's aluminum cap and nickel-plated valve on a clean surface to avoid destruction. The bead breaking fixture should align with the valve stem at a 90-degree angle while you insert the tire iron or pry bar just ahead of the sensor body to push the tire bead across the mounting/dismounting head. The tire machine should rotate the tire/wheel assembly with a clockwise motion until the outside bead reaches the rim before repeating the process for the inside bead. Start by taking out the tire pressure sensor nut while making sure the tire and wheel surfaces remain free of any tire sealant residue. Pre-installation cleaning of the grommet sealing area leads to placing the sensor into the wheel hole with its air passage facing away from installation before tightening the sensor nut to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.) while maintaining the sensor body parallel to the inner wheel surface. Install the mounting/dismounting head at 180 degrees to the valve stem while aligning the bead transition area 45 degrees counterclockwise of the valve stem then clockwise rotate the tire/wheel assembly until the tire beads rest inside the wheel rim before repeating for the outer bead. Once you reinstall the tire/wheel assembly you need to remember that service replacement tire pressure sensors start in OFF mode so you must spin the wheel above 32 km/h (20 mph) for at least 10 seconds to activate the sensor. Lower the vehicle position and activate the tire pressure sensor learning mode.
