GMC Sierra 1500 Wiper Motor Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the wiper motor on GMC Sierra 1500?
A: You need two tools to replace the wiper motor: Wiper Transmission Separator (J 39232) and Wiper Transmission Installer (J 39529). First remove all wiper connectors and the air inlet panel. After that take the four bolts out of the reinforcement panel. Remove the wiper transmission assembly by taking off its electrical connector and unscrewing its two bolts. Grab the Wiper Transmission Separator (J 39232) to disconnect the drive link from the wiper motor crank arm. Afterwards remove the wiper motor's two bolts and take out the motor from the wiper transmission. Put the wiper motor on top of the wiper transmission assembly and fasten it firmly using two bolts at 8 Nm (71 lb in). Now put the drive link onto the wiper motor crank arm through the Wiper Transmission Installer (J 39529) and fit the wiper transmission assembly to the vehicle with both bolts at 9 N.m (80 lb in). Reestablish power to the wiper motor and put back the reinforcement panel using four bolts at 9 N.m (80 lb in) resistance. Also place back the air inlet grille and wipers. Press the wipers to check if they move smoothly.
