How to replace the ignition lock cylinder on GMC Sierra 3500?

Begin the Ignition Lock Cylinder replacement process by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable then disabling the sir system following required safety steps. Proceed by dropping both hush and knee bolster components prior to removing the steering column trim covers. Insert an allen wrench into the lock cylinder housing's top hole when the key rests in the run position. Press down on that wrench to release the tab, enabling you to extract the lock cylinder. To install the lock cylinder you should insert the key into position while using a screwdriver to move the lock cylinder housing gear clockwise until it activates the run function. Set the Ignition Switch and lock cylinder housing gears into their proper alignment to stop no start and battery drain problems from developing. Insert the lock cylinder into the housing after alignment and finally replace all steering column trim covers and hush and knee bolster components. You must finish by enabling the sir system while reconnecting the negative Battery Cable.
