    Q:
How to replace the ignition lock cylinder on Chevrolet Silverado 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin the Ignition Lock Cylinder replacement process by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable then disabling the sir system following required safety steps. Proceed by dropping both hush and knee bolster components prior to removing the steering column trim covers. Insert an allen wrench into the lock cylinder housing's top hole when the key rests in the run position. Press down on that wrench to release the tab, enabling you to extract the lock cylinder. To install the lock cylinder you should insert the key into position while using a screwdriver to move the lock cylinder housing gear clockwise until it activates the run function. Set the Ignition Switch and lock cylinder housing gears into their proper alignment to stop no start and battery drain problems from developing. Insert the lock cylinder into the housing after alignment and finally replace all steering column trim covers and hush and knee bolster components. You must finish by enabling the sir system while reconnecting the negative Battery Cable.

    Q:
How to replace the ignition lock cylinder on GMC Sierra 3500 Classic? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the Ignition Lock Cylinder first switch off sir system. The knee bolster and the steering column shroud need to be removed. Hold the key in the start position, insert an allen wrench into the hole in the Ignition Lock Cylinder case top and flip it down until the tab releases and the Ignition Lock Cylinder can be pulled out. The installation will require ensuring that the gears between the ignition/start switch and the Ignition Lock Cylinder case are properly located not to have a mismatch that might cause a no start or battery drain. Turn the Ignition Lock Cylinder case gear clockwise to the start position and it will bounce into run. Connect the key to Ignition Lock Cylinder, align it, and install it into the Ignition Lock Cylinder case. Try reinstalling the steering column shroud and the knee bolster, and also activating the sir system.
