GMC Sonoma Wheel Bearing Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the front wheel bearing, hub, and seal on GMC Sonoma?
A: Before you start working on the hub assembly you need to support your vehicle with safety stands while raising it. Place a punch into the wheel rotor vanish slots to prevent rotation during repair on 4wd vehicles. Separate both drive axle components from the 4wd model by taking out the nut and washer first. 4wd drivers should disconnect the driveshaft from the hub and bearing by using the axle remover j 45859. Take out the Wheel Speed Sensor mounting bolt and sensor from the Wheel Hub to bearing assembly. Keep the Wheel Hub and bearing safe while removing its mounting bolts through the installation on the Wheel Hub studs on the vehicle's outside face. Take away both the splash shield and the Wheel Hub and bearing seal unit. Just before adding the Wheel Hub and bearing put the seal on the hub first and place the splash shield onto the Steering Knuckle at the correct position. Align the threaded openings of the Steering Knuckle and Wheel Hub before tightening the bolts to 105 nm (77 ft. Lbs.). You should bolt the Wheel Speed Sensor to its place using 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.) torque settings afterwards. Return the rotor to its place before inserting the rotor vanes punch in 4wd applications. After fitting the drive axle washer, fasten the nut until it reaches 140 nm (103 ft. Lbs.) torque. Replace the wheel and tire once you have finished lowering the vehicle.
