To replace the radiator surge tank outlet hose/pipe on 4.8l, 5.3l, and 6.0l engines, the first action will be to drain the cooling system. Loosen the clamps of the air cleaner outlet at the throttle body and maf/iat sensor and remove the air cleaner outlet duct. If the vehicle has no rpo c36 for the auxiliary heater, unclip the surge tank/heater outlet hose from its mount. If provided with rpo c36, so. Deploy j 43181 heater line quick connect release tool on the surge tank outlet hose (black connector) by having it close over the hose, and pulling it into the quick connect end. Tighten your grip with an outlet hose and pull outwards to disconnect it from the heater and blower module of both configurations. Reposition the surge tank outlet hose clamp at the surge tank, remove surge tank outlet hose from surge tank and from Water Pump, remove surge tank outlet hose. In installation, install the surge tank outlet hose extension to the Water Pump and the clamp location. Then, mount the surge tank outlet hose to the surge tank and place its clamp. If you have rpo c36, attach the surge tank outlet hose to the heater and blower module but make sure it clicks to hold. Perform the same for the vehicles without rpo c36. Mount the surge tank/heater outlet hose to the mounting clip for both configurations. Replacing the installer and tightening the clamps, at the throttle body and maf/iat sensor lever each 7 nm 62 lb in. The arrow at the throttle body end on align the throttle body attaching stud. Finally, fill the cooling system.
