A: To replace the surge tank, first drain the cooling system and remove the air cleaner assembly.then remove the overflow hose from the surge tank and take the low coolant level switch electrical connector. Reposition the surge tank inlet and outlet hose clamps. Reposition hose clamps of surge tank inlets and outlets. For those vehicles that have a 4.3l, 4.8l, 5.3l, 6.0l, or 8.1l engine, remove the surge tank inlet hose and outlet hose from the surge tank. Since the vehicle has a 6.6l engine, unscrew the surge tank inlet hose and outlet hose from the surge tank. Then, remove the bolt and nut of the surge tank and the surge tank itself. To install the new surge tank install it in position and secure with the bolt and nut tightening to a torque of 9 nm(80 inch lbs). For a 6.6l engine, connect the surge tank outlet hose, then the inlet hose. For other engines, link inlet and outlet hoses of surge tank. Lastly, re-install the air cleaner assembly and top off the cooling system.
