The door check replacement starts with opening the door fully before removing the door trim panel and water deflector. You need to begin by removing the check strap nuts at the door-side and check strap plug and check pillar bolt at the body-side before you retrieve the check strap from inside the door. The check strap placement begins inside the door before moving into the body while securing the check strap nuts at 9 N.m (80 lb in). Apply loctite(r) 242, gm p/n 12345382 (Canadian p/n 10953489) to the threads of the check bolt after cleaning before securing it with torque of 25 N.m (18 lb in). The water deflector and door trim panel need to be installed after finishing the installation.
