    Q:
How to replace the catalytic converter (LSJ) on Chevrolet Cobalt? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the Catalytic Converter (LSJ), first lift and support the vehicle. Detach the post Catalytic Converter heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) then catalytic pipe to the Exhaust Manifold nuts and carefully unbolt the catalytic pipe from the Exhaust Manifold and lower to rest on the Rear Crossmember of the front s/of the suspension frame. Remove nuts of the Catalytic Converter pipe-to-exhaust extension pipe, rear the converter pipe forward and support it, and rear and down the extension pipe to unlink the pipes. Remove the Catalytic Converter pipe assembly from the vehicle, and if there are any exhaust gasket left, remove and discard, clean the flange for the left over gasket residue. For installation, use new exhaust gaskets on the Exhaust Manifold and the exhaust extension pipe, are to be held by the flange studs. You should position the Catalytic Converter pipe assembly to the vehicle, linking the extension pipe to the converter pipe and installing the Catalytic Converter pipe-to-exhaust extension pipe nuts to a tightening of 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Secure the converter pipe to the Exhaust Manifold gently and fastening it with the Catalytic Converter pipe-to-Exhaust Manifold nuts - tighten these up to 50 nm (37ft.lbs.). Finally, re-set the post Catalytic Converter ho2s and lower the vehicle.
