    Q:
How to install the A/C Accumulator (ACDelco P/N 151697) on Chevrolet Corvette? Posted by Customer
    A:
The A/C Accumulator (ACDelco P/N 151697) requires installation with the recovery of refrigerant from your A/C system through the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A). Before cutting the plastic insulation you must measure 420 mm (16.5 in) starting from the condenser end of the front evaporator tube. Stand beside a tubing cutter to cut the tube and after use, mark and cut it at 400 mm (15.7 in) and 450 mm (17.7 in) while keeping metal shavings out of the tube. Removing all burrs from cut ends you need to extract O-rings from the A/C accumulator. The evaporator tube receives the first flare nut along with the first ferrule with the tapered end pointing toward the flare nut, followed by installation of the A/C accumulator to the evaporator tube where the arrow should be facing the evaporator unit and must be fully seated. The flap nut requires tightening force of 15 N.m (11 lb ft). The A/C accumulator should next be removed from the second evaporator tube half before loosening its flare nuts. Apply lubrication to each end of the evaporator tube where O-rings will be installed and place the accumulator back onto its position by fully seating it before tightening flare nuts to 15 N.m (11 lb ft). After installing the front evaporator tube perform an A/C system evacuation and recharge before testing the fittings through Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A).
