2004 Chevrolet Corvette Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator on 2004 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: The first step to replace an A/C Accumulator requires recovering refrigerant from the a/c system. Before removing the A/C Accumulator from the evaporator tube you need to loosen its flare nuts while you immediately apply tape or caps to both the condenser and open front of the tube to avoid contamination. After discarding the o-rings proceed with removing the cap or tape from the evaporator tubes. Mount new o-rings on both ends of the evaporator tube followed by installing the A/C Accumulator against the evaporator with the arrow direction toward the evaporator. When installing the A/C Accumulator onto its ferrules it is essential to push it fully down to position the o-rings within the accumulator housing afterward tightening the flare nuts to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Evacuation of the a/c system and recharging will be followed by testing the component's fittings for leaks using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
