2004 Chevrolet Corvette Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Heater Core on 2004 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Begin replacement of the Heater Core by removing the hvac module followed by the outlet cover screws and subsequent removal of the outlet cover. After removing the Heater Core cover screws you must discard seals (1,2,3) from this cover and outer seal from the Heater Core itself. Loosen the screw that secures the Heater Core retaining clamp before removing it together with the clamp. You must then loosen the Heater Core pipe retainer clamp screw. Take out the Heater Core from the hvac module case - lower by following this order: first discard the lower seal then the center seal and finally the upper seal and side seals. A flat bladed tool should be used to activate the retaining tab so you can open the Heater Core pipe retainer clamp. When installing the Heater Core pipe retainer clamp position the depression to match the ridge of one of the pipes before tightening it into place. Replace the hvac module case - lower side seals and the upper seal, along with the center seal, and the lower seal before placing the Heater Core into its position. Screw the Heater Core clamp in position while torquing it to 1.6 n.m (14 lb in) before tightening up the heater retaining clamp with its screw to identical torque specifications. The installation begins with new Heater Core outer seals along with cavity seals (1,2,3) on the Heater Core cover which should be followed by applying the cover and its screws to 1.6 n.m (14 lb in). Replace the hvac module after installing Heater Core outlet screws and cover while tightening at 1.6 n.m (14 lb in).
