2003 Chevrolet Corvette Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Heater Core on 2003 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: The replacement process starts with removing the hvac module and continuing with removing the outlet cover screws followed by its removal. Start by removing Heater Core cover screws and then the cover itself while discarding seals (1,2,3) of the Heater Core cover and separate the outer seal of the Heater Core. The next step requires you to remove the Heater Core retaining clamp screw followed by its clamp before removing the Heater Core pipe retainer clamp screw and the Heater Core from the hvac module case - lower. Users must remove the lower seal and center seal as well as upper seal and side seals from the hvac module case - lower. A flat surface tool should be used to activate the retaining tab which lets you open the Heater Core pipe retainer clamp. To install the Heater Core pipe retainer clamp position its depression at the ridge of a pipe before locking it into place. You must install new Heater Core side seals with the upper seal , center seal and lower seal onto the hvac module case - lower while the Heater Core goes in last. Fasten the Heater Core with the pipe retainer clamp screw while making it reach 1.6 n.m torque (14 lb in torque), before installing the Heater Core retaining clamp and its screw with a torque of 1.6 n.m (14 lb in). The Heater Core requires a new outer seal to be installed next before cavity seals (1,2,3) are placed on its cover. Secure the Heater Core cover and its screws by tightening them to 1.6 n.m (14 lb in), after which attach and tighten the Heater Core outlet cover screws to 1.6 n.m (14 lb in). Finally, reinstall the hvac module.
