The crankshaft balancer replacement process starts by taking out both the Radiator along with the Drive Belt before lifting the vehicle for support. The crankshaft balancer touch point plug can be removed now because the device lacks a necessary key slot for proper torque control when it turns. Use the en 46547 (Flywheel Holding Tool) to place into the flywheel teeth while lowering the vehicle before discarding the crankshaft balancer bolt. The crankshaft balancer removal process requires j 41816-2 (Crankshaft End Protector) together with j 41816-a (Crankshaft Balancer Remover) to handle the balancer properly. Avoid pulling on the edge of the outer section. When installing the new crankshaft balancer employ the en-48034 (Harmonic Balancer Installer) and later remove it from the installation site. Install the crankshaft balancer washer together with a fresh bolt before torquing them to 150 nm (111 lb ft) while turning the j 45059 (Angle Meter) an extra 180 degrees. After vehicle support the technician will remove the en 46547 (Flywheel Holding Tool) from the flywheel teeth before installing the service slot plug and Drive Belt and Radiator.

The replacement process for the crankshaft balancer begins by taking off the Radiator followed by the Drive Belt then lifting and supporting the vehicle. The service slot plug is removable with caution because the crankshaft balancer operates without a key-way so the crankshaft can turn while tightening resulting in improper torque values. The technician must install tool en 46547 (Flywheel Holding Tool) into flywheel teeth while placing the vehicle into a lowered position before discarding the crankshaft balancer bolt. The j 41816-2 (Crankshaft End Protector) must be combined with the j 41816-a (Crankshaft Balancer Remover) to safely remove the crankshaft balancer without touching its outer edges. The en-48034 (Harmonic Balancer Installer) should be used to put in the new crankshaft balancer before removing the en-48034 itself. Install the crankshaft balancer washer and a new bolt with the j 45059 meter set to 150 nm plus 180 degrees of angle. First position and lock the vehicle before removing the en 46547 from the flywheel teeth. Insert the service slot plug followed by lowering the vehicle and completing the Drive Belt and Radiator reinstallation.

Begin the Crankshaft balancer replacement process by taking off the cooling fan and Drive Belt followed by vehicle suspension and support. Before tightening the Crankshaft balancer eliminate the service slot plug since the balancer does not have a key-way feature which might allow Crankshaft rotation leading to incorrect torque results. Put the en 46547 inside the flywheel teeth before lowering the vehicle to remove the Crankshaft balancer bolt which should be discarded. Put the j 41816-2 on the Crankshaft end and avoid pulling the outer Crankshaft balancer edge but install a 3 jaw puller to remove the balancer. Beginning with the removal of the j 41816-2, you must extract the Crankshaft balancer friction washer found at the end of the balancer or on the Crankshaft before proceeding with cleaning and inspection of the balancer. The gm p/n 12573950 Crankshaft balancer friction washer should be placed at the end of the balancer before using the j 41478 installation tool. Position the Crankshaft balancer washer along with a fresh bolt on the assembly before using j 45059 to tighten the bolt to 150 nm while rotating the bolt 180°. Proceed with vehicle lifting before taking out the en 46547 from the flywheel teeth. Then install the service slot plug after vehicle descent and finish with Drive Belt and cooling fan installation.

Raise and support the vehicle again to remove the EN 46547 from the flywheel teeth, then install the service slot plug, lower the vehicle, and finally reinstall the drive belt and cooling fan.

Install the J 41816-2 into the end of the crankshaft, avoiding pulling on the outer edge of the balancer, and use a 3 jaw puller to remove the balancer before taking out the J 41816-2.

Install the new crankshaft balancer using the J 41478, then remove the J 41478.
