    Q:
How to replace the radiator fan and shroud on Chevrolet Trailblazer? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start the cooling fan and shroud replacement by taking out the air intake baffle and the hood latch support. First disconnect the transmission cooler lines running from the engine then detach them from their position within the Fan Shroud. First detach the two upper bolts from the Fan Shroud while employing hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to relocate the upper inlet Radiator Hose clamp before extracting the upper inlet Radiator Hose from the Radiator. The shroud requires a connector disconnect which allows you to vertically position the water pump bolts before removal. A counterclockwise rotation using the fan clutch remover and installer (J 41240) on the water pump shaft hub nut enables you to secure the Water Pump Pulley during fan hub nut loosening for removal. To clear the Radiator inlet you must start by removing the Fan Shroud from the Radiator side panels then tilt the Radiator forward and lift the Fan Shroud combination up and away from the engine. To install the fans, set the shroud on the Radiator bottom lip while inserting bolts through the upper fan bracket then tighten them to 28 nm (21 ft. Lbs.). First reconnect the electrical connector then secure the Fan Shroud at the side panels. Lastly tighten the fan nut on the water pump shaft through a clockwise rotation reaching 56 nm (41 ft. Lbs.) using the fan clutch remover and installer (J 41240). Follow the process by reinstalling the transmission cooler lines to the engine and then clamping them into the Fan Shroud followed by positioning the hood latch support. Finally install the upper inlet Radiator Hose to the Radiator while using hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to tighten the clamp.
