    Q:
How to Replace the Brake Proportioning Valve in an ABS System on Chevrolet Tracker? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start the replacement process by cleaning the area around the reservoir cap then pumping out its fluid through a syringe or suitable tool. Remove the brake pipes from their connection with the proportioning valve and disconnect the proportioning valve bolt plus its bracket bolt without separating the valve assembly parts. Insert the newly purchased proportioning valve into place with its bolts and tighten the bracket bolt to 10 nm or 88.5 inch lbs., while setting the second bolt torque to 23 nm or 17 ft lbs. Install the new brake pipes into the proportioning valve position. Tighten flared connections to 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.) torque. As the last step add fluid to the brake reservoir before bleeding air from the hydraulic system.

    Q:
How to service the ABS Control Module on Chevrolet Tracker? Posted by Customer
    A:
The ABS Control Module (ABSCM) servicing process begins with turning the ignition switch to OFF because this prevents equipment damage. The CPA should be removed from the lock tab before lowering the tab to disconnect the ABSCM harness connector through its cover opening. The assembly requires dirt removed before proceeding with the four ABSCM to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) screw removal step. Tool application to pry the ABSCM loose from the BPMV must be avoided because over-force can damage both units. The ABSCM should be removed without damaging its seal. After separation of ABSCM from BPMV continue with installation by cleaning ABSCM gasket and BPMV surface with alcohol on a clean rag. Create a clean surface on the ABSCM gasket area and BPMV by wiping them with alcohol through a clean rag and position the ABSCM onto the BPMV. Use the four screws to fasten the ABSCM to BPMV before tightening them to 5 Nm (44 inch lbs.). After connecting the ABSCM harness connector you should push down its lock tab before sliding the connector cover back into its proper locked position. Conclude by replacing the CPA while running the Diagnostic System Check - ABS.
