    Q:
How to replace the control arm bushing in the rear suspension on Chevrolet Uplander? Posted by Customer
    A:
The replacement process for Control Arm bushings in the rear suspension begins with car elevation and support installation. A utility stand must support the Control Arm by resting in front of the coil spring. Before you can access the Control Arm Bushing you must first detach the rear axle bolts holding the Control Arm and lower the axle. Tag down the correct direction of the Control Arm Bushing when installed in the lower Control Arm. To properly remove and install the Control Arm Bushing use the j 28685 rear suspension bushing remover/installer (J 28685) together with the j 9519-e ball joint remover/installer kit (J 9519-E). During installation position the flat bushing edge at a 90-degree angle toward the fluid axis located 9 degrees off the Control Arm center line. Install the Control Arm Bushing using the j 28685 (J 28685) and j 9519-e (J 9519-E) tools, ensuring it reaches a position 30 mm (1.18 in) beyond the Control Arm. The j 28685 (J 28685) shows proper bushing installation because its end matches the indicator line. Raise the rear axle using a utility stand before installing the Control Arm Bolt to the rear axle and dropping the vehicle.

    Q:
How to service and repair the control arm bushing in the rear suspension on Chevrolet Venture? Posted by Customer
    A:
To service and repair the Control Arm bushing on the rear suspension, begin by raising and supporting the vehicle. Attach a utility stand to carry the Control Arm in front of the coil spring. Take out the rear axle Control Arm bolts from the rear axle and bring down the rear axle to expose the Control Arm bushing. Mark the Control Arm bushing at the Control Arm on the bottom Control Arm. Use the j 28685 rear suspension bushing remover/installer (J 28685) and the j 9519-e ball joint remover/installer kit (J 9519-E) in removing the Control Arm bushing. For installing, bring the flat edge of the bushing to the mark on the Control Arm to place it on a 45-degree angle, using the j 28685 (J 28685) and j 9519-e (J 9519-E). Ensure that the bushing extends 9.8 mm (0.39 inch) from the Control Arm, check the proper depth when the end of the bushing lines up with the indicator line on the j 28685 (J 28685). It is necessary to lift the rear axle using the utility stand, to connect the Control Arm bolt to the rear axle, to take out the utility stand and then to drop the vehicle.
