How to overhaul brake calipers on Chevrolet Classic? Posted by Customer
    A:
To overhaul the brake caliper, first, remove the front brake caliper from the vehicle.prdrut. Then, apply a low pressure compressed air into the caliper bore via fluid inlet hole to drive out the Brake Caliper Piston. Carefully remove part piston dust boot seal from the seal counterbore a-proper caliper using a small wooden or plastic tool and throw it away, then part piston seal from the caliper bore. Then, take off the bleeder valve and cap of the caliper. Clean the Brake Caliper Piston bore and seal counterbore and caliper piston with the denatured alcohol or equivalent, and not using any abrasive. Dry out these components with the help of non-lubricated, filtered air and check the caliper bore for presence of cracks, scoring, pitting, excessive rust or corrosion. If rust or corrosion is present, try to remove it using very fine emery paper; alternative worry: if not possible, replace the caliper assembly. Also need for replacing piston if there are any cracks, scoring, or damage to chrome plating on caliper piston. To install, lubricate the new piston seal with delco supreme 11(R) gm p/n 12377967, canadian p/n 992667, or equivalent dot-3 brake fluid from a clean, sealed container, and install it into the caliper bore. Next, slip the caliper piston into the bore and again the new caliper dust boot seal . Recap the bleeder valve and cap placed back on caliper and run the valve in and tighten firmly; lastly reinstall brake caliper onto vehicle.

    Q:
How to overhaul brake calipers on Chevrolet Malibu? Posted by Customer
    A:
To fix the brake caliper first take out the front brake caliper from your vehicle. You should remove the Brake Caliper Piston by filling the caliper bore with gentle compressed air through its fluid inlet. Push a small wood or plastic implement into the seal counterbore of the caliper to extract the piston dust boot seal and remove it. Then pull out the piston seal that fits in the caliper bore. Turn off the caliper bleeder valve and cap. Do not use abrasive tools to clean the Brake Caliper Piston. Apply denatured alcohol or its equivalent to purify the caliper piston bore, seal counterbore, and piston before drying them with non-oiled filtered air. Check if caliper inner tube shows damage like breaks, marks, holes, severe rust or rust layers. Light rust should vanish under fine sandpaper but heavy layers force replacement of the whole caliper. When you find cracks, scored areas, pits, thick rust, or severe corrosion during the caliper assembly review you must replace it. Look for signs of damage or harm to the piston chrome plating as well as scoring or cracking. Replace the piston now. Place the new piston seal into caliper bore while applying deloc supreme ii (P/N 12377967) brake fluid from sealed packaging then position seal with lubricant inside before inserting piston. Press the new dust boot into position before connecting the bleeder kit parts including valve and cap piece securely to the caliper unit. Put the brake caliper in its proper vehicle position.
