    Q:
How to replace the Heater Core on Chevrolet Lumina? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step when replacing the heater core is to drain the coolant. The replacement of the heater core requires disconnecting both heater hoses at the heater core followed by removing the LH and RH instrument panel insulators then the knee bolster bracket and instrument panel compartment. Then disassemble the lower heater duct by removing all its bolts and actual duct body. Begin by removing the heater core cover bolts then the cover before proceeding to detach the heater core tube strap bolts to remove the heater core bolt and bracket before finishing with the heater core removal. Place the new heater core while ensuring proper positioning before installing bracket and straps to the core according to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Secure all heater core bolts to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in) tension then fasten the heater core cover bolts to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in). Replace the lower heat duct along with its bolts yet suspend the installation at 1.5 N.m (13 lb in). The instrument panel compartment, knee bolster bracket and LH and RH instrument panel insulators need to be reinstalled after reconnecting both heater hoses at the heater core and refilling the cooling system.
