    Q:
How to replace the Heater Core on Buick Century? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start the Heater Core replacement by removing the air cleaner and duct assembly (only for 3.1L) as well as the fuel injector sight shield (only for 3.8L). The first step is to empty coolant from the system and break both Heater Core hose connections. The procedure requires removal of both lower floor console as well as lh and rh instrument panel insulators when they are present. The outlet cover requires positioning downward in the rear direction so it can disconnect from the rear area floor duct assembly before you remove both screws and the outlet cover. Secure the Heater Core at its opening by removing screws from the cover and discarding three seals (1,2,3) from both cover and core components. First detach the Heater Core line clamp screw together with its retaining clamp before loosening the Heater Core pipe retainer clamp screw. The hvac lower case will yield the Heater Core while operators must discard the lower seal along with the center seal, upper seal and side seals. Start Heater Core installation by placing the side seals and upper and center and lower seals into the hvac case and inserting the Heater Core. Apply 1.5 n.m (13 lb in) torque to the Heater Core line clamp screw followed by installing the mounting clip with a screw which needs 1.5 n.m (13 lb in) torque. Insert the Heater Core outer seal onto the Heater Core unit before installing new seals (1,2,3) to the Heater Core cover. Place the Heater Core cover in position first before securing its screws at 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). Next, assemble the Heater Core outlet cover with screws while torquing to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). Reinstallation of both Heater Core outlet cover screws to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in) is required followed by reinstalling the lower floor console and lh and rh instrument panel insulators and reconnecting both heater hoses at the Heater Core then filling coolant before reinstalling the air cleaner and duct assembly (3.1L only) and fuel injector sight shield (3.8L only).

    Q:
How to replace the Heater Core on Buick Regal? Posted by Customer
    A:
Hose clamp pliers (J 38185) represent the required tool for Heater Core replacement. Start the repair process by taking off either the air cleaner assembly for 3.1l engines and the fuel injector sight shield for 3.8l engines and then disconnect the cross vehicle brace. The Heater Core requires positioning of the heater hose inlet and outlet clamps using hose clamp pliers (J 38185) before disconnecting the hoses while draining the coolant. To disconnect the Heater Core from its assembly at the rear area floor duct your first step should be positioning the Heater Core outlet cover downward and rearward before removing the lower floor console along with right and left instrument panel insulators. First remove all screws at both the Heater Core outlet cover then unscrew the screws from the Heater Core cover. Simply discard the seals (1,2) from the Heater Core cover followed by removing the caulk before discarding the outer seal from the Heater Core. Slide the screw out from the Heater Core line clamp and Heater Core retaining clamp as well as the Heater Core pipe retainer clamp before pulling out the Heater Core from the hvac lower case. The hvac lower case requires removal of its lower and center and upper and side seals together with the surrounding parts. Begin Heater Core installation by placing the hvac case with side seals, upper seal, center seal, lower seal and then installing the Heater Core. Fasten both the Heater Core line clamp and Heater Core mounting clip with screw while tightening them to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). Install the outer seal to the Heater Core followed by new seals (1,2) to the Heater Core cover and apply caulk before securing it with screws at 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). Reinstall the Heater Core outlet cover with screws then tighten them to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). After that complete installation of the lower floor console, right and left instrument panel insulators. To complete the Heater Core installation the technician must connect the inlet and outlet heater hoses using the hose clamp pliers (J 38185) and reposition the clamps before adding coolant to the system followed by reinstalling the cross vehicle brace with the air cleaner assembly for 3.1l engines or the fuel injector sight shield for 3.8l engines.

    Q:
How to Address Issues with the Heater Core on Buick Regal? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace a Heater Core involves taking off the fuel injector sight shield along with draining coolant from the system. You need to detach both heater hoses from the Heater Core while also removing the lower floor console when present and then walking down the lh and rh instrument panel insulators. The outlet cover must be moved downward and to the rear from the duct assembly before you can remove its screws and the outlet assembly. You will now detach the Heater Core cover by unfastening its screws while removing the cover along with seats (1, 2, 3) and Heater Core outer seal. First remove the Heater Core line clamp screw followed by its retaining clamp before moving on to the Heater Core pipe retainer clamp screw . Remove the Heater Core from its position inside the hvac lower case after discarding all seals consisting of the lower seal and center seal and upper seal and side seals. Insert the new side seals and upper seal along with the center seal and lower seal onto the hvac case before inserting the Heater Core. The installation requires a screw to fasten the Heater Core line clamp at 1.5 n.m (13 lb in) while the Heater Core mounting clip requires another screw with a proper 1.5 n.m (13 lb in) torque setting. Position the Heater Core outer seal to the Heater Core and afterward install new seals (1, 2, 3) onto the Heater Core cover. Secure the cover with its screws to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in) torque specification. Place both Heater Core outlet cover screws and tighten them to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). Completing the service requires lower floor console installation if present together with lh and rh instrument panel insulators reinstallation followed by connecting the heater hoses to the Heater Core before refilling the coolant system and installing the fuel injector sight shield.
