    Q:
How to replace the wheel cylinder on Chevrolet Classic? Posted by Customer
    A:
Vehicle replacement starts with raised vehicle support followed by tire and wheel assembly removal and subsequent Brake Drum and Brake Shoe extraction. Dust off the Wheel Cylinder area before disconnecting the bleeder valve. Secure the exposed brake pipe ends using covers to stop fluid escape and protect against foreign contaminants. To install the new Wheel Cylinder you must first disconnect the brake pipe from the Wheel Cylinder using plugs before removing Wheel Cylinder mounting bolts to extract the part. Use loctite gm p/n 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) or its equivalent to treat Wheel Cylinder shoulder face contacting backing plate before placing Wheel Cylinder onto backing plate followed by Wheel Cylinder mounting bolt installation, torquing bolts to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). After removing the brake pipe end plugs you should connect the fitting to the Wheel Cylinder while torquing it to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.). The bleeder valve installation must reach a torque of 13 nm (115 inch lbs.) before you continue with Brake Shoe assembly and drum brake adjustment followed by Brake Drum placement. The brake hydraulic bleeding procedure should be followed in order to adjust the parking brake while installing the tire-wheel assembly then lowering down the vehicle.

    Q:
How to overhaul a wheel cylinder on Chevrolet Malibu? Posted by Customer
    A:
To upgrade the Wheel Cylinder, take it out from the vehicle firstly. Next, extract the boots and then remove the pistons , seals and the spring. After that, use a bleeder valve to pull, and check the bore of the cylinder and the pistons for gouges, tire and scratchy, and what the cylinder neck and what. If there is corrosion, then the suitable Wheel Cylinder hone should be used to clean up. Albeit, if the cylinder bore does not clear up after a couple of passes, change the Wheel Cylinder . Clean all pieces with denaturing alcohol and dry down with non-lubricated compressed air. Clean the new seals of oil, using clean brake fluids. For assembly, install the bleeder valve, and tighten up to 7 nm (62 inch lbs.), followed by spring, seals , pistons, and boots. Finally, install the Wheel Cylinder.
