    Q:
How to replace the brake drum on Chevrolet HHR? Posted by Customer
    A:
Check that you fully release the park brake before elevating and supporting the vehicle to remove and put in the Brake Drum. First remove the tire together with the wheel assembly before proceeding to remove the Brake Drum. Before reinstalling the Brake Drum use the j 41013 rotor resurfacing kit (J 41013) on the hub/flange mating surface of the Brake Drum to remove rust and corrosion and also remove any corrosion from the drum braking surface if needed to make installation easier. The j 42450-a wheel hub resurfacing kit (J 42450-A) should be used to clean the wheel hub flange. To install a new Brake Drum scrape away protective coating from its friction surface using brake cleaner approved with denatured alcohol along with a shop towel before drum brake adjustment and Brake Drum installation and tire assembly reinstallation. To properly center the brake shoes inside the drum users should engage the brakes a few times while applying them before moving the vehicle down.
