    Q:
How to replace the rear brake backing plate on Chevrolet Cobalt? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start by supporting the vehicle then follow this by removing wheel assembly and Brake Backing Plate replacement. The first step is to remove the Brake Drum followed by removing the brake shoes. Remove both the universal spring from the Brake Backing Plate and then the Wheel Cylinder. After releasing the rear park brake cable end fitting from the drum Brake Backing Plate remove the wheel bearing/hub assembly. The replacement ends with removing the Brake Backing Plate. Begin your installation by placing the new Brake Backing Plate then install the wheel bearing/hub assembly. Fasten the rear park brake cable end fitting to the Brake Backing Plate before installing the Wheel Cylinder and universal spring on the backing plate. Brake shoes need to be installed and the drum brakes adjusted. The Brake Drum should be installed before performing both pressure and manual methods of hydraulic brake system bleeding. Add the tire and wheel assembly and then lower the vehicle to its original position.

    Q:
How to replace the rear brake backing plate on Chevrolet HHR? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start by safely elevating your car while providing support then remove the tire and wheel structure from the vehicle. Then remove both the brake shoes and Brake Drum. Follow this procedure: remove the universal spring from the Brake Backing Plate followed by the Wheel Cylinder removal. The Brake Backing Plate requires removal after releasing the rear park brake cable end fitting from the Brake Drum and extracting the wheel bearing/hub assembly. Begin installation by adding the new Brake Backing Plate then proceed with the wheel bearing/hub assembly. Position the rear park brake cable end fitting onto the Brake Backing Plate before installing the Wheel Cylinder and universal spring. The next installation step involves adding brake shoes to the system while performing drum brake adjustments. The next step involves fitting the Brake Drum and completing hydraulic brake system bleeding through manual and pressure-based methods. Finish the work by placing the tire and wheel assembly then lowering the vehicle into position.
