The first step to replacing the passenger compartment air filter includes removing the housing cover by disengaging its retainer clips. Extract the passenger compartment air filter from its housing area. The new filter requires proper orientation before being seated completely inside the housing. After placing the passenger compartment air filter inside the housing you should replace the housing cover before engaging the retainer clips to complete the installation.

The passenger compartment air filter works near the battery at the passenger side of the engine compartment to remove both pollen and dust particles from the air. Reduced airflow through the vehicle while driving in dusty environments should signal the requirement to replace the air filter. Operating your vehicle without the active filter introduces dangers to your climate control system from water and small debris that may result in system damage. The air filter checking process includes first removing the retainer clips (A) from the air filter cover. Then remove the cover for access to the filter. Complete the installation by first removing the old filter followed by new air filter placement. Afterward reattach the cover along with the retainer clips.
