    Q:
How to Replace the Automatic Transmission Filter and Fluid on Cadillac SRX? Posted by Customer
    A:
Automotive maintenance involved consists of shifting the vehicle to raise it then supporting its weight with adequate tools. Set a proper drain vessel at the location below the transmission fluid pan. The fluid pan bolts should be loosened on three fluid pan sides and a rubber mallet tap on the fluid pan will help break the gasket seal when needed. Discoloration and fluid contamination should be checked while the transmission fluid drains completely from the system. To replace the fluid pan, first remove its bolts, and afterwards remove the pan and its gasket. Thoroughly check the magnet together with pan while inspecting both the bolts and gasket for damage or wear. Work to remove the fluid filter using a long screwdriver by separating its seals before utilizing the universal seal remover (J 23129) and the slide hammer adapter (J 6125-1B) for removing the two fluid filter seals. Keep two new fluid filter seals ready to install on the transmission fluid filter neck and apply transjel lubricant (J 36850) or petroleum jelly to them as an installation step. The installation of the transmission fluid filter inside the case should occur while simultaneously installing the fluid pan with its gasket because reusable fluid pan gaskets require no replacement until seal damage occurs. The installer must fasten fluid pan bolts to 11 n.m (97 lb in) torque. The process ends with transmission level-up until the vehicle is lowered down before inspecting the Oil Pan Gasket for leakage.
