    Q:
How to replace the front shock absorbers on GMC C2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step is to raise and support the vehicle before you begin to replace the Shock Absorber. If your model has a selectable ride mode, remove the electrical connector on it. Also, if your bike comes with real time damping (RTD), remove the link between the sensor and the link rod. Twist the lock tabs on the connector in a counterclockwise direction to release it and then take it out of the teflon by lifting it up. Hold the teflon section with a wrench as you remove the upper nut and don't discard the plastic ring from the upper end. Get rid of the bolts holding the Shock Absorber at the lower Control Arm and bring the Shock Absorber downward. Before mounting the Control Arm, insert the teflon into the hole and use a jack to help lift the support arm until it matches the hole for maximum alignment on selectable ride models. Slide the Shock Absorber through the lower Control Arm and into the upper spring pocket and make sure it lines up with the holes in the lower arm. Put in the Shock Absorber mounting bolts and tighten them to the recommended torque of 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Fit the top insulator on the shock mounting bracket and use the plastic ring to line everything up. Set the upper insulator on the Shock Absorber, then fasten the nut at the teflon end, then don't tighten it. If your site has an rtd link rod, make sure to connect it to the sensor. Get rid of the safety stands and lower the car to the ground. Wear your wrench on the teflon side and then torque the nut to 15 ft. Lbs. Or 20 nm. Lastly, connect the electrical connector by unlocking it, putting it perpendicular to the tabs below the wrench area on the teflon end, pushing down until it engages and turning it counterclockwise until there is an audible snap and it is locked.
