    Q:
How to replace the front coil springs on GMC Savana 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The front coil spring replacement starts when the vehicle goes on a suitable support lift. First remove the wheel along with the tire and shock absorber before moving on to the front stabilizer shaft link. Use the appropriate tool and a suitable safety jack beneath the lower Control Arm near its lower Ball Joint to eliminate all tension from this arm before proceeding. Proceed by taking out the lower Control Arm pivot bolt retaining nuts and washers while moving onto remove the rear and front pivot bolts. Lower the lower Control Arm to take off the coil spring and insulator before removing the spring compressor tool and the Coil Spring Insulator from the coil spring. To install the Coil Spring Insulator you must first fit the insulator onto the coil spring before compressing it with appropriate tools while maintaining the flat end at the shock tower and the pointed end inside the lower Control Arm pocket. Place the coil spring and insulator onto the lower Control Arm and lift the Control Arm into position while using a suitable safety jack under the bushing area of the Control Arm's rear leg. Installation of the pivot bolts follows with retention of lower Control Arm pivot bolt retaining nuts and washers that require 155 nm (114 lb ft) torque for non-14050/12300 gvw vehicles or 120 nm (89 lb ft) torque with an added 175° torque for 14050/12300 gvw vehicles or those with diesel engines. Put away the coil spring compressor tool before you install both the front stabilizer shaft link and the shock absorber. Finish by reattaching the tire and wheel and removing support then lowering the vehicle.

    Q:
How to replace the front coil springs on GMC Savana 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the Coil Springs at the front, first lift and support the vehicle. Remove the tire and the wheel and remove the shock absorber. Then, unbolt the front stabilizer shaft link and position the lower Control Arm in close proximity to the lower Ball Joint with some safety jack. With the correct tool, release all tension at lower Control Arm, then remove the lower Control Arm pivot bolt retaining nuts and washers and the rear and front pivot bolts. Lower the lower Control Arm to take off the coil spring and insulator and take off the spring compressor and the coil spring insulator from the coil spring. For the installation connect the coil spring insulator to the coil spring using the correct tool by compress the coil spring while having the flat end of the coil spring and the upper insulator facing up into the shock tower, with the pointed end waist in the pocket of the lower Control Arm. Install the coil spring and insulator onto the lower Control Arm, raising the lower Control Arm into position, and set up a proper safety jack under the lower Control Arm rear leg near bushing. Install rear pivot bolts, and front pivot bolts, and then the lower Control Arm pivot bolt retaining nuts and washer and tighten those to a torque of 155 nm (114 lb ft) for vehicles without 14050/12300 gvw or to 120 nm (89 lb ft) plus an additional 175o for those with 14050/12300 gvw or with a diesel engine. Refer the coil spring compressor tool and proceed to fit the front stabilizer shaft link as also the shock absorber. Lastly, reinstall the tire and wheel, remove the support, and then lower your vehicle.
