Release Cable

First shine a safety light inside the engine compartment to access the Hood Latch and Hood Cable. After securing the hood with a support stand, remove both components before taking off two inner cable retaining clips. Use mechanics wire for pre-installation purposes by hooking the Hood Cable because it will help install the new cable correctly. Once you remove the hood release handle you should extract the Hood Cable combined with its grommet from within the passenger area. Drill the new Hood Cable using the lead wire. When installing the Hood Cable users should employ the lead wire to feed the new cable through the dash panel until the grommet fully reaches the engine compartment. Before installation of the hood release handle you must connect the Hood Cable to the Hood Latch and secure it with Hood Cable retaining clips. Finally, close the hood.

Beginning the Hood Cable replacement process requires users to first open the hood and unfasten the left diagonal brace as per the instructions (Brace Replacement - Front Fender Upper Diagonal - Left). The replacement of the air cleaner assembly starts by removing this component (Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement). To begin the replacement of the Hood Cable, disconnect it from the Hood Latch (Hood Latch Replacement) and take it off the Hood Latch bracket. Next, disconnect the hood release cable retainers which are connecting the upper tie bar to the engine compartment side rail. Pull back the carpet to reach the cable after disconnecting it from the hood release handle (Hood Latch Release Handle Replacement) so you can keep the wire or string end inside the passenger space. The wire or string connected to the hood release cable end will streamline the new cable setup process. The grommet must be removed from the dash with a small flat-bladed tool. This allows access to the hood release cable in the dash for removal before the wire or string too. Fix the new Hood Cable to the vehicle by running the wire or string through the dash until the grommet fits into its hole. Start by using the small flat-bladed tool to set the grommet inside the dash opening. Afterward, install the hood release cable retainers by placing them on the front side rail and above the upper tie bar. You should install both ends of the Hood Cable at their designated locations which include connecting it to the Hood Latch (Hood Latch Replacement) and to the hood release handle (Hood Latch Release Handle Replacement). Reseating the air cleaner assembly (Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement) requires removing the block from the Hood Latch while you reposition the carpet. The installation ends with the diagonal brace (Brace Replacement - Front Fender Upper Diagonal - Left). Perform a test of the Hood Cable functionality prior to putting the hood into its final position.

The first step to replace Hood Cable requires hood support while you extract the hood latch cable from the hood latch followed by retaining clip removal. Before pulling the hood latch cable free, stretch mechanics wire onto the cable to simplify later installation of the new cable into position. Remove the hood release handle first before taking out the hood latch cable together with its grommet from inside the passenger compartment. First install the hood release handle before connecting the hood latch cable to the hood latch and securing it with retaining clips before putting the hood back in place.

Begin by supporting the hood open before removing the Hood Cable from its Hood Latch housing and the retaining clips. Before removing the cable secure a mechanics wire on the Hood Latch so the new cable can be reinstalled. First remove the hood release handle and extract both the Hood Cable and grommet from the passenger area. Leading wires must move from the previous Hood Cable to the brand new one. Use the lead wire to thread the new Hood Cable through the dash panel for installation while ensuring the grommet fully enters the dash panel. After attaching the hood release handle place the Hood Cable onto the Hood Latch and lock down the Hood Cable retaining clips and finally close the hood.

Close the hood.

Connect it to the hood latch and install it to the hood release handle.

Secure the hood release cable retainers to the engine compartment side rail and upper tie bar.

Tie it to the end of the hood release cable to assist with the installation.

Install the hood release handle.

A length of mechanics wire to assist with the reinstallation of the new cable.
