    Q:
How to replace the front brake line on Chevrolet Lumina? Posted by Customer
    A:
Starting with replacement of a front brake hose requires securing the vehicle before any work begins. Clean away all dirt from the brake hoses and fittings after removing the front tire and wheel. A back up wrench should loosen the hose fitting while separating the brake pipe from the brake hose at the bracket while avoiding pipe or bracket deformation. Begin the installation by removing the bracket's retainer clip and hose and then proceeding to take out the brake hose bolt and hose and two washers which should be discarded. You must install the brake hose along with the brake hose bolt onto the caliper while placing the two new washers properly before lubricating the bolt threads with brake fluid to torque the bolt to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). Secure the brake hose properly into its bracket slot by both avoiding bends and positioning the fitting to match the bracket's notch before stating the retainer clip. Use a back up wrench to connect the brake pipe to the brake hose while maintaining straight alignment of bracket and pipe before tightening the brake pipe tube nut to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.). Reinstall the front tire and wheel while making sure the brake hose stays away from suspension components during aggressive wheel movements. Adjustments to the hose length should be made whenever necessary. Lower the vehicle and perform the brake bleeding routine.
