    Q:
How to Replace a Power Steering Hose for Pressure Hose on Buick Terraza? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace the power steering pressure pipe/hose requires users to raise and support the vehicle while disconnecting the intermediate shaft from the steering gear to maintain steering control. Place a utility stand behind the frame as support before you disconnect and eliminate the rear bolts enabling the frame lowering process. A drain pan must be positioned beneath the Power Steering Pump and gear before removing both the power steering gear heat shield and hose clip to disconnect the steering gear from the power steering pressure hose. Place a drain pan under the Power Steering Pump and gear before raising the rear of the frame and reinstalling the frame bolts without tightening the pieces. Finally remove the utility stand and lower the vehicle. Subsequently disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the pump while removing the Drive Belt. The raised vehicle enables removal of the Power Steering Hose from its hose retainer followed by the power steering pressure hose extraction. Begin by placing the new power steering pressure hose before lowering the vehicle to connect it to the pump while ensuring a 27 nm(20 ft. Lbs.) torque on the fitting. Follow installation of Power Steering Hose retainer to power steering gear and install the Drive Belt. A utility stand supports the frame assembly after vehicle elevation while frame rear bolts need removal to lower the frame for better accessibility. The steering gear requires the Power Steering Hose connection at 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.) while you should also install the power steering gear hose clip and heat shield. The rear frame assembly must be raised before reinstallation of frame rear bolts followed by torque application to 165 nm (122 ft. Lbs.). Start by taking off the utility stand then add the intermediate shaft into the steering gear before lowering the vehicle to finish with power steering system bleeding.
