How to Replace a Power Steering Hose on 2005 Buick Terraza?

The replacement process for power steering cooler pipe/hose begins with vehicle lifting and support followed by removing the right side engine splash shield first. Position a drain container below the power steering system before you detach the return hose from its connection with the cooler pipe. Steering control failure combined with personal injury risks from damage will occur when the intermediate shaft remains connected to the steering gear. The following procedure includes disconnecting the intermediate shaft from the steering gear followed by placing the utility stand behind the rear frame to remove its bolts. Start by lowering the frame rear section for vehicle clearance before unclipping the heat shield from the power steering gear and loosing the hose clip. Suddenly disconnect the cooler pipe from the steering gear while removing its retainer bolt/screw before extracting the cooler pipe from its frame retainers and vehicle. To install the cooler pipe reinstall it in the vehicle while securing to the frame retainers before tightening the cooler pipe retainer bolt/screw to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Complete the steering gear connection by applying 27 nm torque to the fitting unit and add the power steering gear hose clip before you attach the power steering return hose to the cooler pipe. Lift the frame at its rear position before installing all rear frame bolts and tighten them to 165 nm (122 ft. Lbs.). Remove the utility stand afterward. Finally, reconnect the intermediate shaft to the steering gear while installing the right side engine splash shield then lowering the vehicle before bleeding the power steering system.
