    Q:
How to replace the rear brake calipers on GMC Terrain? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step for replacing the rear brake caliper involves lifting and sustaining the vehicle. The brake caliper repair involves removing first the tire-wheeled assembly followed by removing the brake hose fitting bolt along with the brake hose fitting from the brake caliper but the brake hose fitting gaskets must be discarded and replaced new ones. Insert a cap to protect the brake hose fitting from both fluid loss and contaminants. Use hand tools to remove or install guide pin bolts while maintaining brake caliper guide pin alignment with the brake caliper but prevent an open end wrench opening to touch the brake caliper to avoid brake pulsation. Hold the brake caliper guide pin still while removing the brake caliper guide pin bolts before taking away the brake caliper. To install the replacement brake caliper guide the pin while keeping it static and torque the brake caliper guide pin bolts to 27 nm (20 lb ft). The procedure includes fitting new gaskets on the brake hose fitting and bolting the brake hose fitting bolt to the brake hose fitting using two new gaskets before attaching the brake hose assembly to the brake caliper with a torque of 52 nm (38 lb ft). Finish the process by bleaching hydraulic brake fluid before installing the tire with wheel assembly.
