Upper Hose

The air cleaner outlet duct must be removed before draining the cooling system partially. The Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185) will be used to move the radiator inlet hose clamp first from the radiator surface then from the coolant outlet before taking out the hose. The installation of the radiator inlet hose requires connecting it to the coolant outlet and applying Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185) at the coolant outlet to maintain clamp position before hand. As the final step secure the radiator inlet hose to the radiator support before reinserting the air cleaner outlet duct along with filling the cooling system and checking for leaks.

The procedure to replace the radiator inlet hose starts with removing the air cleaner outlet duct while draining part of the cooling system. Start by detaching the radiator inlet hose from its support system before taking off its clamp from both the radiator and the hose itself. Use a screwdriver to detach first the clamp on the coolant outlet section of the radiator inlet hose followed by carefully removing the hose from the coolant outlet. The radiator inlet hose installation process starts by clamping it to the coolant outlet before attaching it to the radiator using a clamp. The cooling system filling process begins after hose reinstallation at the support structure. Then check for fluid leaks as the last step.

Service and Radiator Hose repairs start with coolant removal from the radiator until the hose removal zone is beneath the minimum fluid mark. Begin by removing the clamps from both radiator hoses along with disconnecting the air inlet duct before removing the hoses from the radiator. After that disconnect the upper radiator inlet hose from the coolant outlet followed by disconnecting the lower radiator outlet hose from the Water Pump. When installing the hoses for the 4.3l engine users must apply spring-type (constant tension) clamps to the radiator connections and ensure that both hoses lie on dry surfaces that avoid paint for effective sealing. First slide the hose clamps slightly on both hose ends before connecting them to the radiator. Finally position the upper Radiator Hose to surround the generator and attach it to the coolant outlet and lower radiator outlet hose to the Water Pump. Evacuate coolant from the system before tightening the service type radiator clamps to 3.0 nm (22 inch lbs.) and finally check for cooling system leaks.

Remove the radiator outlet hose from the radiator and the water pump, then take out the hose itself.

Remove the radiator inlet hose clamp from the coolant outlet and then the hose from the coolant outlet.

Utilize the Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185).
