The capsules on the Steering Column bracket assembly must be inspected to verify bracket slot security and check for looseness by performing hand-based forces; if any capsules appear loose you should either replace the bracket (when bolted to the jacket assembly) or swap the whole jacket assembly (when welded). A new jacket must be installed if measurements between the lower upper jacket edge and defined lower jacket point show spec deviations. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil assembly before shaft rotation while allowing it to remain unsupported in order to avoid damages. The presence of sheared plastic material on the Steering Shaft requires replacement of the shaft before proceeding. A dial indicator should be used to measure Steering Shaft runout at the lower end during steering wheel rotation to ensure the runout is within 1.60 mm (0.625inch) limits. The last step entails the replacement of the inflated restraint steering wheel module coil.
