    Q:
What tools are required to service and repair the steering knuckle on Cadillac Eldorado? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service and repairs of the Steering Knuckle require three essential tools: ball stud separator (J36226) ball stud nut wrench (J35551) and tie rod remover (J24319-B). Three necessary tools include ball stud separator (J36226), ball stud nut wrench (J35551), and tie rod remover (J24319-B). Start with wheel lifting and vehicle support followed by tire removal and moving onward to Wheel Bearing assembly and hub replacement. Disconnect the outer tie rod at the Steering Knuckle before removing the road sensing suspension sensor link. You must remove both the lower Ball Joint cotter pin alongside the retaining nut. Apply the ball stud separator (J36226) on the Steering Knuckle to detach it from the lower Control Arm before unfastening the strut to Steering Knuckle retaining nuts and bolts. Install the new Steering Knuckle after which you should attach the lower Ball Joint to this knuckle's assembly. Secure the bottom part of the suspension strut to the Steering Knuckle through retaining bolts and nuts while following manufacturer-recommended fastener torque values. Tighten the lower Ball Joint retaining nut to 10 nm (7 inch lbs.) but continue tightening an additional 150 degrees (2 1/2 flats) in addition to a 60-degree alignment for the cotter pin. Insert a fresh cotter pin afterward you must link the road sensing suspension position sensor to the lower Control Arm followed by reconnecting the outer Tie Rod End to the Steering Knuckle. Reinstall the Wheel Bearing and hub assembly as well as the tire and wheel before lowering the vehicle down.
