Motor Mount

The first step to replace the left motor mount requires vehicle elevation and support together with wheel and tire detachment. The replacement of front propeller shaft should be the first step for owners of 4wd vehicles. The removal process for Engine Mount to frame mounting bolts requires passing them through the wheelwell. Prevent damage by avoiding placement of jacks under the Oil Pan as well as any sheet metal and crankshaft balancer when supporting the engine for maintenance. The engine needs a limited lift with a jack positioned against the square tab at the engine block rear to enable easy removal of the Engine Mount. First remove the front Engine Mount to the engine mounting bolts through the wheelwell and afterwards remove the rear Engine Mount to the engine mounting bolts under the vehicle before extracting the Engine Mount from the vehicle. To mount a new part start with Engine Mount positioning against the vehicle structure before installing the rear mount through the bottom entry points until secure but loose. Screw in the front Engine Mount to the engine mounting bolts through the wheelwell while torqueing these Engine Mount to engine mounting bolts to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). Construct the engine by installing the mount to the frame mounting bolts through the wheelwell before tightening to 60 nm (44 ft. Lbs.). A 4wd vehicle requires the reinstallation of its front propeller shaft before installing the tire and wheel followed by vehicle lowering.

Vehicle elevation and support procedures should be the first step when replacing a transmission mount on 4l80-e/4l85-e automatic transmissions. A transmission jack needs to hold the transmission securely afterward you take out the transmission support crossmember. Begin by removing the transmission mount mounting bolts for rwd vehicles then follow with 4wd vehicle bolts before removing the transmission mount from the car. Fit the new transmission mount into position before securing the 4wd vehicle mounting bolts to 50 nm (37 lb ft) followed by rwd vehicle bolts tightened to 50 nm (37 lb ft). First lower the vehicle and eliminate the transmission jack before putting back the transmission support crossmember.

You must elevate your vehicle before starting the replacement of the right Engine Mount. First disconnect the Starter together with the right side Exhaust Manifold before removing the Engine Mount to achieve frame mounting bolt removal. Use a jack on the square tab at the rear of the engine block but position it away from the Oil Pan and sheet metal and crankshaft balancer to prevent damages. Begin engine elevation only to a point that enables the removal of the Engine Mount before removing the Engine Mount while unfastening its engine mounting bolts to pull out the mount from the vehicle. Begin by inserting the Engine Mount into its vehicle position then fasten it to the engine mounting bolts before tightening them to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). Lower the engine until you can attach the Engine Mount to frame mounting bolts before securing them to 60 nm (44 ft. Lbs. Torque). Finish the installation by putting back the right side Exhaust Manifold along with the Starter then lower the vehicle.

Remove the engine mount to engine mounting bolts and take the engine mount out of the vehicle.

Raise and support the vehicle.

Remove the transmission mount mounting bolts for 4WD vehicles.

Install the mounting bolts for RWD vehicles, also tightening them to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).

Reinstall the transmission support, remove the transmission jack, and lower the vehicle.

Reinstall the transmission support, remove the transmission jack, and lower the vehicle.

Install the front engine mount to the engine mounting bolts through the wheelwell and tighten the engine mount to engine mounting bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).

Avoid using a jack under the oil pan, any sheet metal, or crankshaft balancer; raise the engine only enough to allow for the removal of the engine mount by using a jack on the square tab at the rear of the engine block.
