Brake Pads

Before working on the brake pads you must examine brake fluid levels in the master cylinder reservoir. Keep the fluid at middle ground if it currently rests there but decrease it if the fluid level sits higher. Lift the vehicle and take off the tire and wheel unit from the wheel space. Examine how the caliper works and press the pistons down slowly with a c-clamp after relocating the tool when needed. Installing heavy mechanic's wire or its equivalent between the brake caliper and its mount prevents leaks when you disconnect them from their mounting bracket while maintaining the connected hydraulic flexible brake hose. Take the brake caliper off its location, then check the unit for damage while noting where the parts fit before removing the brake pads from the Brake Caliper Bracket and getting rid of the anti-rattle snaps. Position the new brake pads on the caliper bracket exactly as you marked them for removal when putting the brake caliper onto its bracket and securing anti-rattle clips to their proper places. Install the tire and wheel parts then slowly lower the vehicle. Press on the brake pedal starting from zero until it reaches 2/3 of its distance before letting it go while the engine stays off. Press the brake pedal three times with 15-second intervals until the brake pedal becomes strong enough. This process sets the brake caliper pistons and pads correctly in their positions. End your work by adding new brake fluid to the master cylinder tank at its right amount and softly rubbing the brake pads against the rotors if needed.

Raise and support the vehicle, then remove the tire and wheel assembly.

Fill the master cylinder reservoir to the proper level with clean brake fluid and burnish the brake pads and rotors as necessary.
