    Q:
How to replace the rear axle shaft on Chevrolet Trailblazer? Posted by Customer
    A:
The process starts by suspension of the vehicle with tire and wheel removal before removing the brake caliper and rear Wheel Speed Sensor. You should first eliminate the brake caliper from the vehicle and the rear Wheel Speed Sensor. Proceed first with the removal of the rear axle housing cover together with its gasket before moving on to the pinion shaft locking bolt. Workers should extract the pinion shaft from axles that lack a locking differential but they must partially extract the pinion shaft from axles featuring locking differentials until the pinion shaft reaches the housing. A screwdriver or similar tool should be used to rotate the c-lock towards the thrust block alignment before pushing the Axle Shaft flange into the differential. Pull the c-lock from the button end of the Axle Shaft while preventing the shaft from rotating for correct alignment. The axle remover tool and slide hammer will be needed when you encounter difficulty removing the axle. When installing the Axle Shaft into the rear axle housing maintain a controlled entry to let the splines connect with the differential side gear. Dockcontrol your c-lock onto the button of axle shafts without locking differentials but position this locking tool on axle shafts with locking differentials while keeping a portion of the pinion shaft outside and extending the ends to match the thrust block. Hold the shaft flange toward the frame to position the c-lock properly into the differential gear then restore the pinion shaft hole to the differential case aperture. Secure the new pinion shaft locking bolt while applying 36 nm (27 lb ft) for the 8.0/8.6 inch axle or 50 nm (37 lb ft) for the 9.5 ld inch axle. You should install the rear axle housing cover and gasket after setting back the brake caliper and the rear Wheel Speed Sensor. The installer should complete the repair by putting on the tire-wheel assembly after filling the rear axle with its designated lubricant then returning the vehicle to ground level.
