Crankshaft Position Sensor

The starting point for Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor replacement requires elevating the vehicle then supporting it. Start by taking off the air deflector alongside the oil filter adaptor before disconnecting both electrical connectors of the crankshaft position sensor. Next you should discard the bolt that holds the crankshaft sensor and never forget to unplug the crankshaft sensor before continuing. The installer must examine the O-ring around the crankshaft sensor for deterioration before installing new parts. Clean engine oil should be applied to the O-ring before the crankshaft sensor installation along with the retaining bolt which needs a 10 Nm (89 lb in) torque setting. After reattaching the crankshaft position sensor connector you must reinstall the oil filter adaptor and the air deflector. Check for oil leaks by running the engine while lowering the vehicle then rechecking the area surrounding the crankshaft sensor. Complete the CKP System Variation Learn Procedure as the last step.

To carry out the Crankshaft Position Sensor service and repair, ensure that the parking brake is engaged as well to prevent injury to the person. Check to be sure that the hood has been closed, then check for dtcs by using the scan tool. In this situation, if there is a dtc, then check the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) list/type. Start the engine and let the engine coolant temperature be above 70°c (158°F) before retiring off the ignition. Turn on the crankshaft position variation learn procedure using the scan tool, and start the car. Apply and firmly hold the service Brake Pedal while holding transaxle in park. Move the accelerator pedal to increase until fuel cutoff is reached at 5150 rpm and then release off rapidly to the 0 location. The crankshaft position system variation compensating values will learn from where it goes back to imo. If necessary, verify the dtc status for dtc p1336 after the procedure. If the scan tool report answers that dtc p1339 has ran and passed, learn procedure is done. If indicating dtc p1336 did not fail or did not run, check for other dtcs and if none, repeat crankshaft position system variation learn as necessary.

Raise and support the vehicle.

Disconnect the crankshaft sensor electrical connector and remove the retaining bolt.

Check for engine symptoms.

Observe the DTC status for DTC P1336; if the scan tool indicates that DTC P1336 ran and passed, the procedure is complete.

Disconnect the crankshaft sensor electrical connector.

Tighten the bolt to a specification of 8-11 N.m (70-100 lb in).

Remove the oil filter adaptor.

Inspect the crankshaft sensor O-ring for wear or damage.

Raise and support the vehicle.

Reconnect the crankshaft sensor electrical connector.

Turn OFF the ignition for 30 seconds.

Reconnect the crankshaft position sensor electrical connector, then reinstall the oil filter adaptor and the air deflector.

Perform the CKP System Variation Learn Procedure.

Raise and support the vehicle.
