Heat Shield, Lower Passenger Side

First step to replace the Exhaust Heat Shield requires supporting the vehicle from the ground to avoid removing the Muffler. The first step requires removing the fasteners which join the Muffler to the Catalytic Converter. The Muffler should be repositioned to reveal access to the heat shield rivets. The heat shield rivets should be removed through drilling before extracting the exhaust Muffler heat shield from the vehicle. Begin by attaching the new heat shield through new rivets after connecting the Muffler to the Catalytic Converter during installation then place the vehicle.

First, remove the muffler assembly.

Slide it up over the HO2S pigtail.

Position the exhaust muffler heat shield to the floor panel, ensuring to install the exhaust muffler heat shield nuts and tighten them to 9 Nm (80 lb in).

Raise and support the vehicle.

Reinstall the left frame reinforcement and the left frame bolts, tightening them to 100 Nm (74 lb ft) plus an additional 90 degrees using the J-45059 (Angle Meter).

Position the exhaust pipe heat shield to the underbody, ensuring to follow fastener precautions to avoid vehicle damage.

Position the exhaust pipe heat shield to the underbody, ensuring to follow the Fastener Notice.

Position the heat shield to the underbody and the dash panel, ensuring to follow the Fastener Notice.

Position the exhaust manifold heat shield and secure it with the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts.

Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connector and remove the HO2S electrical connector retainer from the engine wiring harness clip.

Raise and suitably support the vehicle.

Remove the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) and the exhaust flexible pipe.

Lower the vehicle.
