Heat Shield

A technician's first step is to raise and support the vehicle before beginning replacement work on the power steering gear heat shield. Begin by removing the stabilizer shaft links followed by rotating the stabilizer shaft down. Start by removing the plastic clip from the power steering gear heat shield then disconnect the holding bolts to ultimately remove the heat shield. Mount the new power steering gear heat shield by following the fastener notice in service precautions. Place the retaining bolts on the heat shield before tightening them to 9 nm (79 inch lbs.). Afterward, reattach the plastic clip to its position on the heat shield. Reinstall stabilizer shaft links after lowering the vehicle down.

Begin power steering gear heat shield replacement by raising the vehicle and supporting it in place followed by removing stabilizer shaft links and rotating the stabilizer shaft downwards. After removing the plastic clip from the power steering gear heat shield you need to uninstall the heat shield's retaining bolts to extract the heat shield. The power steering gear heat shield installation requires placement of the new component so use the fastener notice the tech manual outlines for service precautions. Fasten the heat shield using its retaining bolts to 9 nm (79 inch lbs.) torque before restoring the plastic clip. Reinsert both stabilizer shaft links and lower your vehicle into place.

The first step to replace a power steering gear heat shield starts with supporting and raising the vehicle into position. Before installation dismantle the stabilizer shaft links then position the stabilizer shaft to face downwards. First detach the power steering gear heat shield's electrical harness clip before removing its mounting bolts. Start by installing the new heat shield after heat shield removal by following the provided fastener notice for effective installation. Apply 9 nm (79 inch lbs.) torque when securing the heat shield using mounting bolts. Proceed with these steps in order: attach the electrical harness clip to the heat shield then rotate the stabilizer shaft back into position and finally reinstall the stabilizer shaft links before lowering the vehicle.

First, lift and support the vehicle. Then, the stabilizer shaft links are removed, and then rotate the stabilizer shaft lower. Remove the power steering gear assembly mounting bolts (115 100 01) and detach the electrical harness clip from the power steering gear heat shield, and then remove it from the power steering gear contour. As for installation, place a new heat shield and make sure you comply with the fastener notice for safety precautions. Seal the heat shield with the mounting bolts to 115 100 01 at the tension of 9 nm(79 inch lbs.) and then reattach the electrical harness clip. Lift the vehicle back on to the ground, rotate the stabilizer shaft back into place, and reinstall the stabilizer shaft links.

Start the heat shield replacement process by elevating and supporting the entire vehicle. Begin by removing the stabilizer shaft links then rotate the stabilizer shaft vertically down before proceeding. The next step requires separation of the electrical harness clip from the power steering gear heat shield followed by bolt removal (power steering gear heat shield). After dedusting the power steering gear heat shield install the new part with caution by observing all fastener service precautions. Tighten the mounting bolts of the heat shield to 9 nm (79 inch lbs.) before placing the electrical harness clip back onto the power steering heat shield. Place the stabilizer shaft in its correct orientation then reinstall the stabilizer shaft links before you lower the vehicle.

To change the power steering gear heat shield, first, lift and support the vehicle. Take off stabilizer shaft links and rotate stabilizer shaft downwards. Next,you will detach the electrical harness clip and remove the mounting bolt and then you will take off the heat shield. For installation, position the new power steering gear heat shield and ensure that you follow the fastener notice for correct installation. Screw the heat shield down with the mounting bolts, torquing them to 9 nm (79 inch lbs), then reinstall the electrical harness clip. Untwist the stabilizer shaft and reinstall the stabilizer shaft links before lowering of the vehicle.

Position the power steering gear heat shield and ensure to follow the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Secure the heat shield with the mounting bolts, tightening them to 9 Nm (79 in. lbs.).

Remove the two bolts securing the heat shield and take off the power steering gear heat shield.
