    Q:
How to Replace Coil Springs on Chevrolet Equinox? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace the coil spring starts by raising the vehicle while using support. Participants must start by taking out the wheel along with the rear tire before removing the stabilizer shaft link. Set a jackstand beneath the lower Control Arm and lift the component slightly to reduce coil spring tension. Start by removing the lower shock's bolt and nut and gradually loosen the lower Control Arm to support frame bolt and nut then lower Control Arm to knuckle bolt and nut. Start by lowering the Control Arm until you unload the coil spring. Wait until the spring is unloaded before removing both coil spring and insulators. You should examine both upper and lower coil spring insulators. The existing components should stay in place during replacement while you inspect the damaged insulators. Replace any damaged insulators otherwise keep the current ones. Set the rubber-encased spring inside the car and use the jackstand to press down on the spring. Place the lower Control Arm onto the knuckle before installing the bolt and nut. Torque both components to 160 n.m (118 lb ft) for the knuckle and lower Control Arm connection. Installation of the shock requires tightening the lower Control Arm nut and bolt to 110 n.m (81 lb ft). To complete the installation replace the jackstand under the vehicle while you put on the stabilizer shaft link followed by attaching the rear tire and wheel assembly before you lower the vehicle.
