Start by switching off the Ignition Switch and then remove the fuel injector sight shield. The Spark Plug heat shield removal tool (J 38491) serves to softly lift the heat shield away from the spark plugs. Start by unscrewing the Spark Plug wires beginning with positions 2,4,6 from the engine's rear section. Take note of wire placement before disassembly. Start by twisting Spark Plug boots 1/2 turn counterclockwise and follow with wire removal from spark plugs. Move to the Spark Plug wires (1,3,5) at the front of the engine and record their positions before carefully twisting the boot fits. Starting with the ignition coils, disconnect the Spark Plug wires followed by removing retaining clips from the engine's rear, front and top. When installing new Spark Plug wires all boot heat shields along with Spark Plug wire conduit and retaining clips need to be transferred from the old wires for proper future installation. Begin by positioning new Spark Plug wires on the engine and adding retaining clips before correctly connecting wires to Ignition Coil and spark plugs starting with (1,3,5) at the front followed by (2,4,6) at the rear positions. Install the fuel injector sight shield after installation completes.

Start by turning off the Ignition Switch before removing the fuel injector sight shield. You should use the j 38491 Spark Plug boot removal tool to carefully lift up the heat shield surrounding spark plugs. First detach the Spark Plug wires (2, 4, 6) from the engine rear while recording their original positions before twisting Spark Plug boots by 1/2 turn before separation. The Spark Plug wire (1, 3, 5) replacement at the engine's front end commences after the fuel injector sight shield and Ignition Switch are turned off. The next step involves removing Spark Plug wires from ignition coils after clipping out Spark Plug wire retainers that exist on the engine's rear front and top parts. Move all boot heat shields along with Spark Plug wire conduit and retaining clips to the fresh Spark Plug wires after their removal. During the new Spark Plug wire installation process attach these wires to their proper positions on the engine while simultaneously installing the retaining clips. Begin Spark Plug wire installation by securing wires (1, 3, 5) to the front spark plugs before wiring (2, 4, 6) is attached to the rear spark plugs and then reinstalling the fuel injector sight shield.

To service and repair the Spark Plug Wires, let the engine be cool and clean all the dirt from the Spark Plug recess area. Twist the Spark Plug boots 1/2 turn before removing them by grabbing the boot only so as not to bend the Spark Plug wire. First, ensure that ignition is off, then remove the fuel injector sight shield. Then, pull the Spark Plug Wires off of the ignition coils and intake manifold channels; then, off of the spark plugs and vehicle. To install, position the Spark Plug Wires at the top of the engine and plug into the channels of the intake manifold cover. It is time to connect the wires to the spark plugs, making sure that the boots are properly seated and then tighten them to the ignition coils and replace the fuel injector sight shield.

Both the wire and the component connected to it should be replaced.

Detach the spark plug wires from the ignition coils and intake manifold channels, followed by removing them from the spark plugs and the vehicle.

A thorough inspection is necessary to accurately identify conditions that may affect performance.

Position the new spark plug wires to the engine, install the retaining clips, connect the wires to the ignition coils, attach the spark plug wires (1, 3, 5) to the front spark plugs, and then attach the spark plug wires (2, 4, 6) to the rear spark plugs.

Connect the spark plug wires to the spark plugs at the front of the engine.

Use the Spark Plug Boot Removal Tool (J 38491) to gently pry the heat shield up from the spark plugs and remove the spark plug wires (2, 4, 6) from the rear of the engine, noting their positions and twisting the spark plug boots 1/2 turn before removal.
