• Q: How to replace the Spark Plug Wires on 2006 Buick Lucerne?

  A: When replacing ignition cable, start by removing intake manifold cover. Then remove the front ignition cable from the ignition coils, and then the rear ignition cable. For the front ignition cable, you will record their positions, then twist every ignition cable boot 1/2 turn. Using the ignition cable boot removal tool (J 38491), pry the heat shield carefully upward from the spark plugs, and then remove the ignition cable, respectively. Remove the ignition cable harness from the retainer afterward, then do the same procedure with the rear ignition cable while paying special attention to where they are located and using the ignition cable boot removal tool (J 38491), if necessary. Lastly, pull the ignition cable retainers from the rear lift bracket and Fuel Rail. For installation connect the ignition cable to the rear end of the spark-plugs at the back of the engine followed by installing the ignition cable retainers to the rear lift bracket and Fuel Rail. Then, join the ignition cable to the spark plugs located in front of the engine, secure the ignition cable harness to the retainer and then connect rear ignition cable and front ignition cable to the ignition coils before replacing the cover of the intake manifold.
