2000 Buick Century Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose in the Evaporator Tube on 2000 Buick Century?
A: The first step to replace the evaporator tube requires removal of the left front diagonal brace and the cross vehicle brace if they are present. The first step is to recover refrigerant before removing the liquid/suction line bracket along with the vacuum Brake Booster. The technician must carefully detach the liquid line nut at the orifice and the liquid line at the block fitting before proceeding. Discard all o-rings after you remove the liquid line from the evaporator tube. The first step for installation involves applying mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil to new o-ring seals that need to be fitted onto the liquid line before positioning the liquid line correctly. Mount the liquid line at the block fitting while tightening its fitting bolt to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). The installation of the liquid line nut at the orifice requires tightening the nut to 27 n.m (20 lb ft). Install the vacuum Brake Booster after reinstalling the suction line along with its liquid line bracket. Evacuation of the system must happen while charging proceeds before leak checks are done. Reinstallation of the cross vehicle brace completes the procedure when the vehicle has this option in addition to reinstalling the left front diagonal brace.
