2001 Buick Century Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Hose Assembly on 2001 Buick Century?
A: The procedure to replace the A/C Compressor hose assembly requires completing a partial vacuum of the refrigerant first. Start by taking out the right front fender upper diagonal brace and then proceed with removing the air cleaner assembly. After disconnecting the A/C Compressor hose from the condenser you must remove its hose nut. Use an appropriate tool to access the A/C Compressor hose nut then disconnect the accumulator hose. Support the vehicle before removing the lower air deflector from the system. Continue by removing the A/C Compressor hose assembly from the front of the A/C Compressor before discarding both the used o-rings and sealing washers. The new A/C Compressor hose assembly should be installed first while applying mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil to the o-ring seals before adding new sealing washers. Secure the A/C Compressor hose assembly at the compressor rear by installing its nut and tightening it to 33 n.m (24 lb ft). After lowering the vehicle, install and tighten the A/C Compressor hose nut to the accumulator with 16 n.m (12 lb ft) torque value. Move forward by connecting the A/C Compressor hose and nut to the condenser where tightness should be set to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Reinstallation of the right front fender upper diagonal brace and the air cleaner assembly should be followed by system evacuation and recharging of the a/c system using halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
