- Q: How to replace the A/C Hose on 2002 Buick Century?A: The replacement process starts with a proper recovery of refrigerant. Start the replacement by taking out the air cleaner assembly and then the cross vehicle brace together with the vacuum Brake Booster. Start by removing the accumulator clip then loosen the accumulator tube nut situated at the accumulator. The first step is disconnecting the accumulator tube from the accumulator followed by removing the accumulator tube to evaporator core block fitting bolt and disconnecting the accumulator tube from the evaporator core. Discard and remove the accumulator tube while removing its o-ring seal. Place new o-ring seal in mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil before installing it together with the accumulator tube. The accumulator tube installation requires inserting it between the evaporator and then tightening the accumulator tube to evaporator core block fitting bolt to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Attach the accumulator tube to its mounting position on the accumulator. Install the accumulator tube nut at the accumulator with torque setting at 47 n.m (35 lb ft). After reattaching the accumulator clip the maintenance technician should reinstall the vacuum Brake Booster bracket and cross vehicle brace and air cleaner assembly. Evacuation and a/c system recharge must occur after the leak test with the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) on fitted components.
